New, wheelchair accessible location opens October 29
Bracebridge, October 7, 2013- The board of directors of the Manna Food Bank are proud to announce that Manna has found a new home.
The food bank is relocating to 345 Ecclestone Drive, the PREMiERE Self Storage building (formerly known as the Dura Building,) starting on Tuesday October 29, from 1 to 4pm.
As with any move, there’s lots to organize. “It will be the first parking lot off Ecclestone,” said Manna president Wendee Cameron. “There will be a sign, but we don’t have a unit number as of yet. It’s going to be business as usual, but it will take a bit of time to settle in at the new location, so please bear with us.”
Cameron said she and the rest of the board are thrilled with the new location. “We really feel this will serve our clients’ needs very well.” The new space is fully wheelchair accessible, has a separate interview room (providing clients with more privacy), a larger waiting room, a washroom, and increased food storage space.
The board realized earlier this year that, after many years at the Lions building on Fraserburg Road in Bracebridge, a new home would have to be found. “The Bracebridge Lions have provided us with subsidized space for many years, and for that we can’t thank them enough,” said Cameron. “But we had to find a new location.”
The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act dictates mandatory standards on accessibility in all areas of daily life, including laying out a schedule for making public space wheelchair accessible. The space currently occupied by the Manna Food Bank is not wheelchair accessible.
The Manna Food Bank wishes to thank the owner and management of Premiere Self Storage, for their generous assistance and support.
