Fall Food Drive numbers are in!

Fall Food Drive numbers are in!

It’s official! The Oldtimers Fall Food Drive 2017 is a record-breaker! Here are the official numbers, and a BIG thank you from Manna President Sam Robinson.

Letter to the Editor

From: Manna Food Bank, October 4, 2017

Volunteers from across the community turn out to help.
Volunteers from across the community turn out to help.

We are writing to thank the town of Bracebridge for supporting the Manna Food Bank at the recent Fall Food Drive, organized by the Muskoka Oldtimers Hockey Club.

Once again the community has outdone itself, donating more than 15,000 lbs of food and $4,200 (and counting) in cash and cheques. (Last year local residents donated 14,500 lbs of food and $2,500 in cheques.)

First of all, we owe a huge debt of gratitude to the Oldtimers for spearheading the drive once again. Every year for a quarter century now the Oldtimers have made this by far the most successful food drive activity of the year for Manna. We thank you for your hard work and your dedication.

Thank you to the many businesses and organizations that help raise awareness through their signage and community announcements.

Thank you to more than 100 volunteers who make it happen; the drivers, the runners, the unpackers and others who came out to help. They include students from across Bracebridge, Girl Guides, Cadets and many individuals and families who turn out to lend a hand.

And thank you to the thousands of residents of Bracebridge who donate food and cash to make a difference in the lives of neighbors struggling to get by.

If the volunteers did not make it to your home to pick up your donation, you can either contact Manna at info@mannafoodbank.ca (705) 646-0114, or drop it off at one of the Manna bins in town, located at Gagnon’s Your Independent Grocer, Food Basics, Bracebridge Culture & Recreation Centre, or at the Town offices at 1000 Taylor Road.
While some food banks are fighting to keep their doors open, we are particularly fortunate to live in a community in which so many pull together to rise to the challenge.

For that we thank you. We couldn’t do it without you. Together we are making a difference.

Your sincerely,
Sam Robinson
President, Manna Food Bank.
