Manna LogoHappy New Year, everyone!

We had a busy holiday season. In addition to our regular bi-weekly food bank operations, Manna distributed an extra 83 hams and 98 turkeys to help local families enjoy a bountiful table at Christmastime.

We would like to thank the following for their donation and/or food drives in December;

  • Zellers
  • St. Dominic’s
  • Tim Horton’s
  • The many churches of Bracebridge
  • University Women’s Federation
  • Hydro One employees

We now have our year-end client numbers available. Visit our Client Numbers page or view the PDF directly to see them. Manna helped approximately 6,621 people, or 700 families, in 2011. The number of clients using the food bank in the course of the year dipped slightly from 2010, but the number who used the food bank in December 2011 was up 5% over the same month a year ago. Manna’s clients are asked to use the food bank no more than once per month. The majority use the food bank fewer than three times per year.

For a more detailed break-down of client usage, view our annual Manna Survey (it’s a PDF File), a round-up of client use statistics, published every year in April.

Manna could not provide the stable ongoing assistance that it does without the huge amount of support we receive from our community. A big thank-you to the many Manna donors and volunteers who give of their time and resources to help out.
