Update on Envelope Campaign

Manna treasurer Wendee Cameron reports that as of October 11, 116 people have responded to Manna’s annual envelope campaign by sending in their donations.
In April every year, the Manna Food Bank invites the community to send in a monetary donation to the food bank by enclosing a self-addressed envelope in the Weekender.
Some send a cheque right away, while others tuck the envelope away for later.
Wendee reported that the 116 envelopes returned so far contain cheques totalling $8,930.
The Manna Food Bank is a Bracebridge-based, volunteer-run charitable organization whose mission is to ensure that the immediate needs of the hungry are met. Manna is funded mostly by the generous citizens of our community through donations of food and cheques.
Every month Manna distributes a three-day-plus food supply to about 500 people, nearly half of them children. Two-thirds of the food Manna distributes is purchased.
